Join Canton Comedy Boom on Saturday, November 8th for Oops! All Weirdos – a comedy show dedicated to the memory of our dear friend and fellow performer, Andrew Burge.
Andrew was one of the wildest, weirdest, and most wonderful comedians. Audiences never knew what to expect when he took the stage. Sometimes he’d sing goofy songs about his crushes on fast food mascots, sometimes he’d tell hopefully-made-up stories about eating glue to make his poop sticky, and sometimes he’d just get up and start reading from Thus Spoke Zarathustra. He called himself Dr. Yogurt and wrote his own theme song. His imagination was endless, his heart was huge, and his laughter is sorely missed by all of us here at CCB.
A few months ago, Andrew helped us come up with a show specifically built for comedians like him, who made their audiences hold their breath to see what they’d come up with next. Sadly, Andrew passed away before he was able to see the show come to fruition. It is with the blessing of his closest friends and family that the show goes on.
Oops! All Weirdos is a comedy showcase featuring some of the smartest, zaniest, most absurd and off-the-wall comedians we know. In Andrew’s honor, we present the comedic stylings of four wacky minds he was excited to work with – Gabe Lavictoire, Jo Rou, Angelo Maneage, and Dezhawn France – who are sure to bring us laughs in the most unexpected form.
Proceeds from this show will benefit the Burge family’s charity of choice, Comedy Gives Back, a non-profit organization that provides grants to stand-up comedians for financial crisis, mental health therapy, and chemical dependency treatment.
